The envy of the industry

The envy of the industry

Sometimes amuses me the little understanding of what we 3D artists do, which explains many of the situations we live at work and outside. Not that is bad, but is strange.

All in 3D

All in 3D

No, they are not trying to hide the fact that they plan to do endless revisions and changes last minute. Let's face it, we have arrived to the bottom now.

The material we shot

The material we shot

Seems the footage we did shot was not what we though it was isn't it?

Just one last question

Just one last question

It seems like this could never happen isn't it?

The final presentation

The final presentation

Seems to me further manipulations of a product to amuse ourselves can sometimes take us to a place we really don't want to be.

Software engineering

Software engineering

I keep going back to my background as software developer and I can't but see all the faults on the design of solutions like this morning on the underground where all the screens were blue (Windows) and no train information was available, clearly a problem of Q&A but hey, we live in a world of rapid prototyping rather than software engineering don't we?

It will be expensive in the long run, that is for sure.

Sense of humor

Sense of humor

I have been doing some jokes and found myself considering if someone is going to burn my house down if I publish them, which is very sad. Are we living in the fear that radicalization of our society in the Western World gets to cut our liberties, specially free speech?

In that sense I am very unhappy, specially considering these are not religious jokes at all, they don't even depict figures that are sacred to someone but about the cultures themselves yet I don't feel like submitting them.

Is this a harmonious society? Not.

Fluid simulation

Fluid simulation

What better in life that spend an eternity looking at a computer screen to realize your fluid simulation is shit, your wife will abandon you if you don't go home early enough to see your son who by now is 23 years old and by the way, the director's wife does not like that one pixel.

Let's shoot it for real

Let's shoot it for real

Seems there is a certain aversion against computer generated imagery, could this be we are truly clumpsy? or could it be related to the ever shrinking budgets, ever shrinking deadlines and a certain culture of "let's try for real and if it fails you pick the pieces, oh, by the way, we blew the budget so you won't get a penny?
Feels like the right time to see new wave of directors coming directly from 3D to make the transition to modern film-making.

Creative transfer of knowledge

Creative transfer of knowledge

Seems to me the description of things can be certainly the most tricky part of a project, do we all read the nuances of an explanation? I do not think so, it takes years of work to mind read.
