Finally, after 30 years project the LHC is up and running so kudos to everybody that made that possible, sure another step in understanding of the universe along with countless spin off technologies that will benefit mankind.
For those who don't understand why spending all that money on such a project, you just need to look at everything around you to see examples of the previous research so don't worry, is money well spent.
